The Empty

Abandoned by all else mortals can find themselves filled with a bursting dread and embraced with a deafening silence. These people find themselves on a day to day basis staring into a void that whispers to them dark secrets and ideas, but only those who look into the void and scream back can truly understand how morbid these thoughts truly are. The Empty are those who when scorned by not only people, but the primal forces of the world be it the gods or the elements themselves would do anything to fill an all encompassing void within themselves. Those cursed with this power feel only ever the need to consume and fill the void that lies within themselves.

Empty Expanded Spell List

The Empty lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.

Expanded Spell List
Spell Level Spells
1st Absorb Elements, False Life
2nd Blindness/Deafness, Silence
3rd Life Transference, Protection from Energy
4th Grasping Vine, Locate Creature
5th Antilife Shell, Maelstrom

Soul Shards

Starting at 1st level, the void within you allows you to pull power from others to fill the emptiness within yourself. You have a number of Soul Shards equal to your charisma modifier (minimum of 1) that can

be used to amplify your power and corrupt the spells of others.

Soulburn: Once per turn when casting a warlock spell of 1st level or higher that deals damage you may expend a Soul Shard to have the spell deal additional necrotic damage equal to your charisma modifier. If you later gain the pact of the blade or chain boon you may use this feature on attacks made with your pact weapon or familiar.

Haunt: When you see an enemy within 30 feet of you regain hit points as a result of a spell you may use your reaction to expend as many Soul Shards as you have to reduce the amount healed equal to your charisma modifier times the number of shards expended (healing received cannot be below 0).

You can regain a soul shard as a reaction when killing a creature within 30 feet of you with a warlock spell of 1st level or higher, and additionally regain all expended Soul Shards at the end of a long rest. You cannot have a number of soul shards above your max.

Ravenous Intent

At 6th level your hunger grows and your need to fuel yourself has become so intense that even pain means nothing as long as you can devour those around you. As a reaction when a creature makes an attack roll against you, you can grant the creature advantage on the attack roll and if they hit you gain advantage on all attack rolls against that target until the end of your next turn as well as resistance to the triggering attack. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Devoured Empathy

Beginning at 10th level, the void has stripped so much of you away that you barely feel anything at all and as such your physique reflects that. You are immune to being charmed and frightened. In addition, you are immune to the stunned condition.

Starved Singularity

At 14th level, your hunger has grown so intense you are willing to rip apart those around you if it means it would fill the void within yourself. As an action you may unleash the emptiness that fills you and force every creature within 30 feet of you to make a Charisma saving throw or suffer 6d6 necrotic damage on a failed save and half as much on a successful save. You gain temporary hp equal to half of the total damage dealt as you give yourself a fleeting sense of completion.

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.

Eldritch Invocations

Consumptive Degeneration

Prerequisite: 7th level, The Empty Patron

Contagious Hunger

As an action, you can spend 3 soul shards to curse a target forcing it to suffer 2d10 necrotic damage at the start of its turn which grants you temporary hp equal to half the damage suffered. In addition, while cursed the target's speed is halved.

At the end of each of its turns, the target can make a Constitution saving throw. On a success, the target is no longer cursed.

Once you use this invocation, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Corrupted Effort

Prerequisite: 7th level, The Empty Patron

When you are forced to make a saving throw against a hostile effect you may spend one soul shard to gain advantage, and give the target that forced you to make the saving throw disadvantage on the first strength saving throw they make before their next turn.

Empowered Absorption

Prerequisite: 5th level, The Empty Patron

When you kill a creature with an object given to you or enhanced by your pact boon you may use your reaction to regain a soul shard. In addition, if you have pact of the tome and get a kill using a cantrip you may use your reaction to regain two soul shards.
