Of Two Minds

Prerequisite: The ability to cast at least one spell

Through study and force of will you have learned to concentrate on two powerful spells at a time, but everything has a cost.

  • You can maintain concentration on two spells at a time.
  • One of the spells you are maintaining concentration on, your choice, ends automatically after a number of rounds equal to your spell casting ability modifier (minimum 1).
  • At the end of those rounds (or sooner if you decided to end a spell prematurely) you must make a Constitution saving throw of 10 + the ending spells level or gain a level of exhaustion. (Cantrips have a spell level of 0)
  • If you are forced to make a constitution save to maintain concentration, you make a save for each spell. If you fail either save, you gain level of exhaustion.

Overcast

Prerequisite: The ability to cast at least one spell

Through study and force of will you have learned to heighten a spells effectiveness, but everything has a cost.

  • If you're casting a spell that has an increased effect based on what level spell slot is used to cast it you may choose to Overcast it.
  • When a spell is Overcast it is cast as if it is using a 9th level spell slot but only cost the lowest level spell slot required to cast that spell.
  • If the spell uses dice to determine damage or effectiveness (i.e. Sleep) the dice increase by one step.
  • Once you use this ability roll 1d6; on a roll of 3 or below take that many levels of exhaustion, one a roll of 4 or higher you die instantly and make no death saves.
  • You cant use this ability again until you are no longer under the effects of exhaustion and you finish a long rest.
