Bard: College of the Fire Dancer
Wreathed in a spiral of fire, this performer moves with the fluidity and unpredictability of the element they weave. Threading together the art of spiraling bladework with bursts of destructive flames, they are as deadly as they are elegant upon the battlefield.
Bonus Proficiencies
At 3rd level, you gain proficiency with scimitars. Additionally, if you are proficient with a martial melee weapon, you can use it as a spellcasting focus for your bard spells.
Expanded Spell List
Also at 3rd level, you can choose from an expanded list when selecting your bard spells. The following spells are added to the bard spell list for you:
Spell Level | Spells |
---|---|
Cantrip | produce flame |
1st | burning hands |
2nd | aganazzar's scorcher |
3rd | fireball |
4th | fire shield |
5th | immolation |
Additionally, you learn the control flames cantrip. This does not count against your maximum number of cantrips known.
Flame Dance
Also at 3rd level, you gain the ability to dance across the battlefield with utmost grace, provided that you aren't wearing medium or heavy armor or using a shield.. You can use a bonus action to start a flame dance, which lasts for 1 minute. It ends early if you are incapacitated, or if you don medium or heavy armor or a shield. You can also dismiss the flame dance at any time you choose (no action required). While your flame dance is active, you gain the following benefits:
- You gain a bonus to your AC equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of +1).
- Your walking speed increases by 10ft.
- You have advantage on Dexterity (Acrobatics) checks.
- When you cast a spell of 1st level or higher that deals fire damage, you can expend a use of your bardic inspiration to empower your melee attacks with the leftover flames. Until the end of your next turn, your melee weapon attacks deal additional fire damage equal to your bardic inspiration die.
You can use this ability twice, and regain all uses when you complete a short or long rest.
Extra Attack
Starting at 6th level, you can attack twice, instead of once, when you take the attack action on your turn.
Incandescent Dancer
At 14th level, your flame dance takes on even greater majesty. When you activate your flame dance, you are surrounded with a mantle of glowing flames, and gain the following additional benefits:
- You are resistant to fire damage, and immune to fire damage from your own spells.
- When you take fire damage, you can use your reaction to take control of the flames, drawing them into your dance and reducing the damage to 0. When you do so, you can also expend a use of your bardic inspiration to empower your weapon attacks as if you had cast a spell of 1st level or higher that dealt fire damage. If you had already empowered your weapons with a spell, the bonus damage does not stack.
