Otherworldly Patron

The Phantom

Your patron is a soulstolen known only as the Phantom, an infamous thief who stole from the High Spirits before becoming one themself. They found stealing objects far too easy early in their career, and soon turned to stealing powers and copying them into cards to be used later. These cards became the Phantom Deck, which the Phantom grants to each of their warlocks.

In response to this theft, however, the High Spirits stole the Phantom's soul and forced them to become a High Spirit. To this day, they still steal the abilities of powerful mages, strongmen, and the intellectually gifted, copying them and returning them to their owners.

Patron Magic

You can prepare and cast spells from the Mirror, Love, and Shadow spell lists, unless they have additional restrictions. You also have three patron-exclusive warlock spells, listed at the end of this document.

Phantom Deck

Starting at 1st level, your patron grants you a special deck of cards called a Phantom Deck. As a bonus action on each of your turns, you may draw one random card from your deck. Roll a d6- the result corresponds to a particular card, listed below.

After drawing a card, you can choose whether to discard it or magically grant its effects to a creature within 30 feet of you. The effects of each card differ depending on whether or not you are in combat. Cards granted during combat last for a number of rounds equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum 1), and non-combat cards have their own durations. Once you grant a creature a card using this ability, they cannot be affected by your cards again for one minute.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (a minimum of once). If you discard a card, it does not count against your number of uses. You regain any expended uses when you finish a short or long rest.

d6 Card
1 Mirror
2 Mother Dracon
3 Eternal Vagabond
4 Umbral Eye
5 World Spirit
6 Five Suns

Spread

Beginning at the 6th level, your patron grants you access to an extradimensional space (known as a "spread") where you can store cards for later use. After you draw a card using your Draw feature, you can choose to put it in your spread instead of giving it to a creature. This expends a use of your Draw feature as normal. You can have up to two cards in your spread at any given time. As a bonus action, you can take a card from your spread and give it to a creature. When you finish a short or long rest, any cards that remain in your spread disappear.

Power Heist

Starting 10th level, your patron grants you the same blank card they use to steal power from others. As a reaction when you make a saving throw against a spell or recharge ability that costs an action, you can use your reaction to pull a blank card from your Phantom Deck. You gain advantage on the saving throw against the spell or ability, and the card absorbs part of the power brought against you for later use.

As an action on your turn afterwards, you can play the blank card, allowing you to use the spell or ability recorded on it. Spells cast in this manner use your warlock spell save DC, and can be cast once without expending a spell slot. Recharge abilities also use your warlock spell save DC, and once used they must be recharged in the same manner as a foe's would. Once you finish a short or long rest, the card dissipates and you can no longer use the spell or recharge ability it grants.
