Otherworldy Patron: The Constellation

Expanded Spell List

The Constellation has granted you access to certain spells. You can choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.

Spell Level Spells
1st detect evil and good, shield of faith
2nd augury, see invisibility
3rd speak with dead, sending
4th guardian of faith, locate creature
5th legend lore, dawn

Star-Touched

At 1st level, you can't be put to sleep magically or otherwise. Additionally, as an action, you can emanate a light from any point on your body, or materialize it as a wispy, star-like entity that you have control over. The light creates bright light in a radius of 30 feet, and dim light for another 30 feet. You can have the star follow you at a set distance, or use a bonus action to move it up to 30 feet. If the star goes beyond 30 feet from you, it fades out.

The light lasts until you fall unconscious, or until you dismiss it (no action required) .

Nova

At 1st level, you can utilize the natural light your constellation has given you for offensive purposes. Using an action, you can create a flash of starlight on a point within 40 feet of you. Each enemy creature within 10 feet of the flash must make a constitution saving throw against your spell save DC or be blinded until the end of their next turn.

Once you use this feature, you can't do so again until you finish a short or long rest.

Refraction

At 6th level, your patron reveals the defensive capabilities of their constellation. When you or a creature that you can see within 60 feet of you is hit by an attack, you can use your reaction to create a shield of hardened stardust in front of them. The target is granted resistance against the attack's damage, and the attacker takes radiant damage equal to 1d10 plus your Charisma modifier.

Once you use this feature, you can't do so again until you complete a short or long rest.

Stories of the Night

At 10th level, the captivating stories of your constellation influence your own. During a short rest you can regale your companions with your legendary tales. If you do so, you and any creatures who heard your stories gain the ability to automatically succeed on a saving throw of their choice once until their next long rest. A creature can only be affected by this feature once per long rest.

Starlight's Brand

At 14th level, your patron blesses you with a portion of their full constellation's power. As an action, choose a point you can see within 120 feet. A 30-foot-radius, 150-foot-high cylinder of bright light appears centered on the point you chose, branding the ground it shines on with your patron's constellation for 1 minute, or until you lose concentration (as if you were concentrating on a spell). This light is sunlight, and sheds dim light for an additional 30 feet around it.

Allied creatures in the radius of the bright light have advantage on all ability checks and saving throws. Hostile creatures that enter the bright light for the first time on a turn, or that start their turn there, must make a Charisma saving throw. On a failed save, they take 2d8 radiant damage, and each allied creature in the radius of the bright light gains temporary hit points equal to the damage they took. A creature can't gain these hit points again until the start of your next turn.

Once you use this feature, you can't do so again until you finish a long rest.

Eldritch Invocations

The following invocations have been added as additions for the Constellation patron. Your DM can lift this restriction to better suit the campaign if these invocations are also appropriate for another warlock patron.

Lyra's Lullaby

Prerequisite: The Constellation patron

You gain proficiency in the Performance skill and proficiency in one instrument of your choice. Additionally, you can attempt to put a creature to sleep if its challenge rating is below or equal to half your Warlock level. The target must make a Wisdom saving throw against your Warlock spell save DC or be put to sleep for a minute, or until it takes damage. A willing target automatically fails the save.

Once you use this feature, you can't do so again until you complete a long rest.

Tome of Constellations

Prerequisite: The Constellation patron, Pact of the Tome feature

You can spend 10 minutes meditating with your Book of Shadows, communing with the stars above you. At the end of your meditation, you become aware of the layout of the land around you within 2 miles, including topography and incoming weather. If applicable, you also learn the fastest way in or out of a location you know of within the radius. This information appears in writing in your Book of Shadows, or you can choose to have the information appear as complex star charts that only you or an established student of astrology can understand as well. This information stays in the book until you use this feature again.

Once you use this feature you can't do so again until you finish a short or long rest.

Astral Fox

Prerequisite: The Constellation patron, Pact of the Chain feature

When using find familiar via your Pact of the Chain feature, you can instead choose to summon an Astral Fox as your summoned familiar. The Astral Fox's stat block is below and can be adjusted to what the DM deems fit.

Stardust Longbow

Prerequisite: The Constellation patron, Pact of the Blade feature

When you summon a weapon using your Pact of the Blade feature, you can instead have it be a longbow made of glistening stardust. You're considered proficient with this weapon, and you can use it as a spellcasting focus for your warlock spells. Additionally, you can have damage dealt by the longbow's weapon attack deal radiant damage.

While you have the longbow active, it creates its own arrows out of condensed starlight, and you can cast spells with attack rolls without a range of self or touch at a range of 150 feet. You can also use a Warlock spell slot to fire a number of additional arrows equal to half the level of the expended slot rounded up. Each arrow rolls to hit separately, and can be on the same or different targets.

Guiding Star

Prerequisite: The Constellation patron, 15th level

You can use the teleport spell without expending a spell slot by praying to your patron for one minute. The location you are teleporting to must be underneath an open sky and must be familiar to you. If cast beneath the night sky, the teleportation is always on target.

Once you cast teleport in this way, you can't do so again without completing a long rest.

One With The Stars

Prerequisite: The Constellation patron, 17th level

You can cast gate once, without expending a spell slot, but you must supply the material components. If you cast it in this way, you and any willing creatures are instantly taken to the plane of your constellation's deity. While you are in the constellation's plane, you gain the benefits of a short rest and can ask the deity a single question which they answer to the best of their ability.

Once you cast gate in this way, you can't do so again until you complete a long rest.
