Study of Arcane (Alternative)
Arcane magic — cold and intellectual, it is a magic that warps time and space, and controls the flow of mana, which is just a measure of a fundamental power — if mana were water, then arcane would be steam pressure.
Mages of the arcane are diviners of secrets, balancing the ebb and flow of incredible mystic energies. Unparalleled skill is required to manipulate the volatile forces of the universe. These practitioners push their magical knowledge to its very limits — often to the brink of their own exhaustion, and at great risk to the world around them. Those who master this craft are capable of releasing a barrage of unrelenting power upon their enemies, drawing upon replenishing energies to maintain their assault for as long as the battle demands.
Arcane Insight
Aslo at 2nd level, the gold and time you must spend to copy any Ritual spell into your Spellbook is halved.
Also, you gain proficiency in Arcana (Intelligence) skill. Whenever you make Arcana checks that are related to Arcane type of magic or knowledge you double your proficiency bonus for such checks.
Wellspring of Mana
Beginning when you select this study at 2nd level, a long and meticulous learning of the very nature of the arcane in its primary form - mana has allowed you to manipulate your mana reserves more flexibly.
Instead of gaining a number of spell slots to cast your spells from the Spellcasting feature, your pool of Sorcery Points increased drastically. You can now expend a number of your Sorcery Points to create a spell slot of a given level as a free action, and then use that slot to cast a spell. The number of Sorcery points you have to spend is based on your Arcane Mage Level, as shown in the Arcane Mage table.
Your level also determines the maximum-level spell slot you can create. Even though you might have enough Sorcery Points to create a slot above this maximum, you can't do so. Spells of 6th level and higher are particularly straining to cast. You can use your Sorcery Points to create one slot of each level of 6th or higher. You can't create another slot of the same level until you finish a long rest.
Your Sorcery Points can't be reduced to less than 0, and you regain all spent Sorcery Points when you finish a long rest.
Secrets of Arcane
Starting from 6th level, you become more capable at quickly performing spells as rituals as your understanding over their magical structure increased significantly.
Casting any spell as a ritual only takes you an additional minute, rather than ten minutes.
Also, your constant interaction with arcane energy have left the mark on you. You add the Detect Magic spell to your spellbook if it is not there already. You always have it prepared, and it doesn't count against the number of spells you can prepare. You can cast it without expending a Sorcery Points.

Arcane Shield
When you reach 10th level, you can direct your Mana to absorb incoming damage. Whenever you take damage, you can use your reaction to expend amount of sorcery points up to your Proficiency modifier and reduce that damage to you by an amount equal to three times of Sorcery Points spent.
Advanced Metamagic
At 14th level, your understanding of manipulation over arcane magic becomes more potent, allowing you easier and even further change the structure of your spells.
You learn 2 more metamagic options. Also, whenever you cast a spell, you can use two Metamagic options at the same time.
Optional Rule - Mana Points
If you are using Mana instead of Spell Slots optional feature in your campaign, You instead transform Mana into Sorcery Points.
In such case, Wellspring of Mana feature increases total amount of Sorcery Points by Arcane Mage's level + it's Proficiency bonus
(Example: at 3rd level 9 + 3(level) + 2(PB) = 14 total amount of Sorcery Points)
