The Cavaliere

Weapon (Glaive) Artifact (requires attunement by a tiefling, one with fiendish blood, or one who has made a contract with the Hells or Abyss.)

The Cavaliere is forged from the armored hide and blood of a fiend of great power being slain near some means of transportation, such as a horse, wagon, or other means.

The base creation is twisted and turned, being made into a two wheeled machine of medium or large size, depending on the size of the attuned creature, with extreme fiendish looks to them. One made from a wagon or carriage might be twisted woods and metals, with a layer fo demonic muscle, chitin, and blood holding it together. One made of a horse or other animal might be twisted bones and muscle covered in demonic chitin and muscle, with the skull acting as a sort of morbid decoration on the front.

This weapon has two modes, which may be changed between as an action by an attuned creature. These two modes are weapon, and vehicle with the specifics of each mode detailed below.

Weapon mode: In this mode the Cavaliere turns into a long, hideous looking monstrosity, with the wheels of the vehicle mode spinning viciously at the far end.

For all purposes the Cavaliere acts as a +3 Glaive in this mode, and may be switched to vehicle mode as an action.

Additionally, all attacks while in this mode deal an additional 3d6 fire damage on a hit.

Vehicle mode: In this mode the Cavaliere turns back into its normal form of a two wheeled vehicle for transportation.

While in this mode, the Cavaliere may be mounted and dismounted as an animal, and ridden as such with using the same checks as normal. It is however not able to be frightened or scared into forcing checks on the rider like a normal mount.

While riding the vehicle the Cavalier has a speed of 120 feet, and perfectly remains balanced for its rider despite only having only two wheels.

Anyone not attuned to Cavaliere attempting to ride it must make a DC 20 Dexterity saving throw each turn they attempt to travel in it, or take 1d6 damage for every 10 feet they attempted to travel that turn, rounded up, as they fall off it. Additionally, unattuned creatures are unable to attack from the Cavaliere as they would a normal mount.

While riding the Cavaliere, the rider can cast Feather Fall as a reaction, targeting only themselves and the vehicle by extension. The Cavaliere's rider can cast this up to three times per day, with uses of this ability returning at dusk that night.

The Cavaliere is considered to have a strength score of 30 for purposes of long and high jumps; however, has a strength score of 20 for determining carrying limit.

Destroying The Cavaliere: In order to destroy the Cavalere, it must be taken by a powerful devil lord, and used to promote a lower power devil, than the one from which the weapon came. This is usually a bone devil or similar higher up, who has proven themselve. The Devil that the power within is used to promote is turned into the original Devil from which this weapon materialized, regaining all old memories and skills it once had.
