Lore & History of the Tabaxi
Pre-Sperodin History
Prior to the creation of Sperodin there were two pervious planes that served as the Prime Material planes. Both of these planes were eventually brought to ruin. Upon the ruin of the second material plane the primordial god Askyiska created the third prime material, Sperodin. Tabaxi claim that Sperodin was specifcally created for them as Askyiska's first action after the creation of Sperodin was bringing the Tabaxi to it. The Tabaxi were native to the Prime Materials that existed before Sperodin.
Rise of Summerix
As Sperodin was finding itself early in it's existence several races were pulled into it from previous planes and several new races were created. In the mix of all of these the Tabaxi came in as the strongest their race has ever been. There were several warring Tabaxi clans but as they found themselves in this new land they united under a single leader and formed the great Tabaxi empire of Summerix. The earliest of cities built in early Sperodin were Tabaxi cities of Summerix. The First of these cities was a city named Summerix itself. This city still stands to this day but has been renamed as Vosalem.
Elvan Relationships
The Tabaxi were the first race Askyiska pulled into Sperodin and the Elves were the first she created. Early through the course of sperodin the Tabaxi welcomed the Elves to live beside them and they taught them many things. Elves reproduce very slow and once they reach their peak age they stop aging. It took hundreds of years before the Elves were stronger and outnumbered the Tabaxi but once they did, they enslaved them. It has only been in the last 150 years that the Tabaxi have gained their freedom. Bridges have been amended and many Tabaxi now live alongside the Elves once again.
Reincarnation
With the Tabaxi not being from the plane of Sperodin their souls operate on a different tune than the souls of the created Sperodin races. Due to this when a Tabaxi dies they do not enter an afterlife. They do not cease to be. Instead they go to a Tabaxi Limbo were their souls wait to be reincarnated. No new Tabaxi souls are born. The souls will build up in the Limbo and once Limbo is full a wave of energy is released that impregnates chosen Tabaxi women.
With no new Tabaxi souls being born Necromancy and Dark Magic is amongst the highest of sins within Tabaxi culture. Necromancy and Dark Magic rips apart and destorys the souls of a Tabaxi. This completley removes the Tabaxi from the reincarnation cycle. Additionally becuase of the soul being different that that of created races, a Tabaxi soul is a treasure to a Necromancer or someone else performing dark magic.
Alphalyon
Within Tabaxi culture there is no King or Emperor. The top figure within the Tabaxi culture is referred to as the Alphalyon. Everytime a Tabaxi dies and reincarnates they lose their memories, all except the Alphalyon. The Alphalyon retains all of it's memory from the very first day the Tabaxi stepped foot onto Sperodin.
The Alphalyon is more than a political figure, more than a politicain serving in the role of political head. They are a spiritual leader, wise sage and supreme intellect.
When the Alphalyon dies and enters into the reincarnation cycle the Tabaxi enter a state of mourning. The Alphalyon has a group of elite Monks that serve as his personal guard. Once the Alphalyon dies they enter into a 9 month peroid of training and meditation. Following this peroid they go on a quest to find the reincarnated Alphalyon.
Tabaxi Society
Tabaxi Naming: Tabaxi are born with a name that is given to them at birth. The do not have last names. Prior to the reincarnation cycle they expierence on sperodin they had last names. With the reincarnation cycle the Tabaxi families became a melting pot and eventually they all became one. Occasionally though, Tabaxi have deja vu moments. These deja vu moments are flashes of past lives and through these moments they occasionally learn there old names and with this knowledge their names become hyphenated.
Tabaxi Religion: tabaxi do not follow typical religion. They for the most part do not worship the pantheon. When there is a tabaxi cleric they almost always follow Askyiska. The Tabaxi predate the rest of the pantheon and they see it as created entities. The most common element of Tabaxi religion is monks. Tabaxi religion is full of mediation and the goal is to regain past memories of past lives. Regaining these memories is a great form of ecstasy that can become addictive.
