Specialty

Alchemists come in many varieties. Consider what type of alchemical creations you have focused on or what your goal as an alchemist might be. To determine the nature of your alchemical interest, roll a d8 or choose from the options in the table below.

d8 Specialty d8 Specialty
1 Poison 5 Transmutation
2 Medicine 6 Distilling/Brewing
3 Explosives 7 Philosopher's Stone
4 Elixirs 8 Generalist

Feature: Discerning Eye

Long hours spent mixing ingredients has increased your ability to recognize and appreciate the rarest components. You can find rare ingredients in merchants stalls and caravans, though they may not even be aware of their value, and you always get the highest quality ingredients. You're also more likely to recognize rare or useful ingredients in the wild or on the bodies of slain monsters.

Suggested Characteristics

Alchemists have an interest, almost an obsession, with the very nature of things. Some alchemists have a great respect for nature, others feel it can only be improved on, others become obsessed with mastering it.

1d8 Personality Trait
1 I have never been called humble, but my work speaks for itself. There is no need to brag.
2 I’ve mastered the art of turning lead to gold — or I like to boast that I have.
3 I feel that alchemy should never be practiced for personal gain. Helping others is the reward in itself.
4 There’s nothing I like more than a good puzzle.
5 There's nothing I like more than a good drink.
6 I scrutinize everything, living or inanimate, looking for ways to improve and perfect. Whether they like it or not.
7 I'm convinced that people are going to steal my secrets.
8 I often get lost in my own thoughts and contemplation, becoming oblivious to my surroundings.

Grant Note: I can write bonds, flaws, and ideal tables as well, but feel free to mix and match from otehr backgrounds or just invent your own. These are a
very fungible part of character creation
that are more for your usage than
mine.
