Blind
Variant Rule
In order to play a character who is permanently blind, a number of modifications must be made in order for the concept to be playable. The following six rules are for blind characters who have lived long enough with blindness to adapt to it. In the event of a character who hasn’t lived long enough with their blindness to adapt fully to their other senses, only the first four variant rules should be used. If you are blind, you have the following features:
- You can't see and automatically fail any ability check that requires sight.
- You can’t use darkvision if you would normally have darkvision.
- You are immune to the blinded condition.
- Ranged attack rolls against you have advantage, and your ranged weapon attack rolls have disadvantage.
- You have a +5 bonus to Wisdom (Perception) checks that don’t require sight.
- You have blindsight (PHB, pg. 183) out to 10 feet.
