Myconid Homebrew Player Race

Dwelling in secluded areas where light fails to reach, such as the twisting caverns of the Underdark, Myconids are a ambulatory fungi species that seek enlightenment through Melding with their Circle.

Myconids resemble giant toad stools that's base splits of into legs. The exact details, colours and shape does depend on their Circle.

A Circle is a group of up to 20 or more Myconids ruled by a large Myconid called a Sovereign. Myconids live in these circles forming a collective consciousness through their rapport spores.

The myconids' rapport spores bind the participants into a group consciousness. Hallucination spores then induce a shared dream that provides entertainment and social interaction. This is called a Meld.

Myconids consider melding to be the purpose of their existence. They use it in the pursuit of higher consciousness, collective union, and spiritual apotheosis. Myconids also use their rapport spores to communicate telepathically with other sentient creatures.

CHANGE EFFECT

The Meld, so I am most likely going to make it a bonus proficiency that can be like, shared or something, (sharing is what The Meld is all about). That or have Meld be a Homebrew weaker/ limited version of Legend Lore or Commune. Effect: You may use the help action as a bonus action to anyone within your Rapport Spores' range or another Myconoid within 120ft.

Note: Non-Myconoids affected by this enter a dream-like state, and experience surreal often alien imagery. Experiencing the feelings, emotions, and creative imagery that warps their perception of reality during this time, a person subjected to Melding too many times may be changed by the experience, finding empathy and insights into the world and its people.
