Strong, beautiful and an abomination to the heavens, Phryix is the great demon lord that Arrid converted from true corruption. To understand how this happened, one must first go back to the time before Phryix became a demon.

In her mortal life as a human, Phryix was a commoner who was born under a poor farmer that lived in the outskirts of the city, Sentreum. It is a gift from the heavens if a female is stunningly beautiful but for Phryix and her family, it was nothing short of a curse.

As she grew up, Phryix gained the attention of many suitors but she did not answer or accept any of them because unbeknownst to her family, Phryix had another plan in mind. Far from her appearance, Phryix was a very strong headed woman who wanted to earn money the honest way. She didn't want to simply marry into a rich merchant's family. So when a suitor comes her way, she beats them up, claiming that she would never accept such a weak individual.

This didn't come without repercussions and Phryix did not live a quiet life. Despite her wish, she could not change how the world acts. In time, her rambunctious attitude and gorgeous appearance caught the attention of snob and stuck up young nobles who taught it would be a challenge to tame such a woman. Phryix did not like this one bit and she ran away from the city but managed to give all her savings to her parents so they could live a relatively comfortable life instead of always having to work

Alone and no longer in the safe confines of the city, Phryix started to explore the wilds with only her wit and a few tools she brought along with her. Unlike her unlucky start, the wild brunette found herself in many situations that helped her survive and eventually she gained enough strength to be recognized as a local hero.

But her luck eventually ran out and in a village she was staying in was the home base of a powerful cult who took her in her sleep and with great effort, sacrificed her to their demonic lord.

In the abyss through a miracle, Phryix managed to escape her captors and she maintained her sanity allowing her to keep an intact morality. Dodging and weaving through the abyssal hellscape, Phryix managed to collect the old weapons of unfortunate souls. With enough bravery and a lot of luck, Phryix managed to kill her first demon. As time passed, Phryix realized that she didn't age and every day she spends in the abyss is slowly changing her mind.

It was only at the heart of the layer she was when she managed to find a demon lord amulet. Furious and fearful for its life, the demon lord who was the master of the layer immediately came to try and kill the interloper who wields its amulet. When it arrived, Phryix surprised it and used the amulet along with her skills and weapons to slay the demon lord. Instead of loot, Phryix gained something different. She gained all the powers of the demon lord, its layer and inherent evilness but due to her intact morality she constantly fought against the corruption.

Slowly her mind was corroding and at the time of her almost complete fall, this is where she met Arrid who saved her from complete corruption. Ever since then, she makes sure to assist the solar who saved her and maybe due to her connection with him, she might have found the suitor she wants, if only the suitor actually tried.

Angelic Weapons. Phryix’s weapon attacks are magical. When Phryx hits with any weapon, the weapon deals an extra 2d8 radiant damage and 2d8 fire damage (included in the attack).

Demonic Form. After using her Resisting Fate trait Phryix awakens her Demonic Form. Her walking and flying speeds is increased by 60 feet. She loses her ability to attack with her sword and whip, but instead can use her claws. She can use her Teleport before every claw attack. Her claw weapon attacks are magical. She loses her Angelic Weapons and Fire Aura trait. She can't use her legendary actions.

Fire Aura. At the start of each of the Phryix's turns, each creature within 5 feet of her takes 10 (3d6) fire damage, and flammable objects in the aura that aren't being worn or carried ignite. A creature that touches Phryix or hits her with a melee attack while within 5 feet of her takes 10 (3d6) fire damage.

Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If Phryix fails a saving throw, she can choose to succeed instead.

Magic Resistance. Phryix has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Resisting Fate. When Phryix would die, she instead releases an explosion around her and reverts back to her Demonic Form. Each creature within 30 feet of her must make a DC 21 Dexterity saving throw, taking 70 (20d6) fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The explosion ignites flammable objects in that area that aren't being worn or carried. She regains 150 hit points and her hit point maximum is reduced to 150.

Actions

Multiattack. Phryix makes two attacks: one with her longsword and one with her whip. When in Demon Form, she can make eight claw attacks instead.

Claw (Demon Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +15 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 17 (2d8 + 8) slashing damage.

Longsword. Melee Weapon Attack: +15 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 21 (3d8 + 8) slashing damage plus 9 (2d8) radiant damage and 9 (2d8) fire damage. If Phryix scores a critical hit, she rolls damage dice three times, instead of twice.

Whip. Melee Weapon Attack: +15 to hit, reach 30 ft., one target. Hit: 15 (2d6 + 8) slashing damage plus 9 (2d8) radiant damage and 9 (2d8) fire damage, and the target must make a DC 21 Strength saving throw or be pulled up to 25 feet toward Phryix.

Teleport. Phryix magically teleports, along with any equipment she is wearing or carrying, up to 120 feet to an unoccupied space she can see.

Celestial Cruelty (Recharge 6). Melee Weapon Attack: +15 to hit, reach 30 ft., one target. Hit: 35 (6d8 + 8) slashing damage plus 27 (6d8) radiant damage and 27 (6d8) fire damage

Demonic Decree (Recharge 6). Phryix releases dark abyssal flames in a 90-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 21 Dexterity saving throw, taking 49 (14d6) fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Legendary Actions

Phryix can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. Phryix regains spent legendary actions at the start of her turn.

Teleport. Phryix uses her Teleport.

Searing Burst (Costs 2 Actions). Phryix emits magical, divine energy. Each creature of her choice in a 10-foot radius within 60 feet of her must make a DC 23 Dexterity saving throw, taking 14 (4d6) fire damage plus 14 (4d6) radiant damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Whip Swing (Costs 3 Actions). Phryix swings her whip in a 30-foot cone in front of her. Each creature in the area must make a DC 21 Strength saving throw, taking 7 (2d6) slashing damage plus 9 (2d8) radiant damage and 9 (2d8) fire damage and be pulled up to 25 feet toward Phryix on a failed save, or half as much damage and not be pulled on a successful one.
