The Shadowdancer

Civilized folk have always feared the night, barring themselves behind doors or comforting themselves with bonfires when the shadows grow long, rightfully wary of the creatures that prowl the darkness. Yet long ago, some learned that the best way to conquer an enemy is to embrace it. These were the first shadowdancers.

You exist in the boundary between light and darkness, where you weave together the shadows to become half-seen; an artist of deception.

Bonus Proficiencies

When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with the Deception and Stealth skills.

Additionally, you gain the minor illusion cantrip, if you don't already know it.

Shadowdance

Also at 3rd level, when a creature you can see moves to a space within 5 feet of you, you can use your reaction teleport to an unoccupied space you can see that is adjacent to any creature you are currently adjacent to. As a part of this reaction, make a Dexterity (Stealth) check against the target's Passive Perception. If you succeed, you are Invisible to the target, hidden in their shadow, until the end of your next turn, or until you move, attack, or cast a spell.

Shadow Duplicity

Beginning at 9th level, when you use your shadowdance to teleport, you can also create a perfect illusion of yourself that lasts until the end of your next turn. The illusion appears in the space you teleported from, and mimes attacks against the triggering creature, maintaining the illusion that it is you. If you and your duplicate are adjacent to the target, you may benefit from your sneak attack even if you lack advantage, and you do not have any allies adjacent. If you hit a target adjacent to your clone and are able to apply your sneak attack, you may add your Charisma modifier to the damage.

You can use this ability a number of times equal to your charisma modifier. You regain all spent uses once you have completed a short rest.

Eyes of the Dark

At 13th level, you can see normally in darkness, both magical and nonmagical, to a distance of 120 feet.

Shadow Call

Starting at 17th level, duplicates created by your shadow duplicity last a minute. As a bonus action on your turn, you can teleport up to 120 feet to a space occupied by one of your shadow duplicates. When you do so, your shadow duplicate teleports to occupy the space you left.
