Dryads are tree-fey who prefer secluded woodlands far from humanoids in need of lumber. Dryads’ main interests are their own survival and that of their beloved forests. ### Dryad Traits Your character has a variety of natural and magical abilities due to their fey nature. __*Ability Score Increase.*__ Your Charisma score increases
by 1. Your Wisdom score increases by 2. __*Age.*__ Dryads are not born, but spring into being fully grown when a tree becomes ripe for them. They mature and age in pace with their tree, living for thousands of years. __*Alignment.*__ Most Dryads are Neutral, but some tend toward Chaotic or Good alignments. __*Size:*__ Dryads range from just under 6 to over 7 feet tall. Your size is Medium. __*Speed:*__ Your base walking speed is 30 feet. __*Fey Nature.*__ Your creature type is fey instead of humanoid. You cannot be charmed, and magic can't put you to sleep. __*Tree Stride.*__ A Dryad can step into and out of any living tree large enough to fit her in its trunk. You may stay there indefinitely, or you may use 10 feet of movement to appear inside another tree that can fit you up to 60 feet away. Any damage dealt to a tree while you are inside it is also dealt to you. If the tree is cut down, killed, or otherwise destroyed while you are inside it, you are forcibly expelled from it and take 10d10 force damage. __*Treebound.*__ Each Dryad is bound to a single tree, usually a massive and ancient one at the heart of a dense forest. Any damage done to your tree is done to you, and any poisons or diseases affecting it affect you as well. You can perform a 24 hour ritual inside a tree to make it your bonded tree; most Dryads are loath to do this unless their original tree has died. You do not need to eat, drink, sleep, or breathe, but you do need to return regularly to your bonded tree; treat each day without a long rest inside your bonded tree as a day without food, and each day without a short or long rest inside your bonded tree as a day with only half enough water. __*Woodland Magic.*__ Dryads can speak to plants and animals as though they shared a language. You know the _druidcraft_ cantrip. Once you reach 3rd level, you can cast the _entangle_ or _charm person_ spell once with this trait, and you regain the ability to do so when you finish a short or long rest. Once you reach 5th level, you can cast the _barkskin_ spell on yourself once with this trait, and you regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. __*Languages.*__ You can speak, read, and write Common, Elvish, and Sylvan \columnbreak
>### Acorn of Far Travel >As a 24 hour ritual, a Dryad can cast this spell on a nut, fruit, or seed from her bonded tree. So long as you keep this item on your person, whenever you sleep you are considered to be inside your bonded tree. This allows you to travel long distances without dying of starvation. > >Your tree can communicate empathically with you through this item. Trees rarely have much to say, but it can alert you if it is in danger. > >While you have this item on your person, as an action you can close your eyes and allow your senses to return to your bonded tree. As long as you keep your eyes closed and concentrate, you can see and hear anything that your tree can. > >In an emergency, you can consume this item as an action to be immediately teleported back to your bonded tree, appearing inside its trunk. \pagebreak
