Monastic Tradition
At 3rd level, a monk gains the Monastic Tradition feature. The following option is available to a monk, in addition to the options offered in the Players Handbook.
Way of the Yumi
Your monastery taught you in the ways of archery; how to wield a bow--among other weapons--how to aim properly, and other tactics that you have incorporated into your mainly ranged style of martial arts.
Bonus Proficiencies
When you choose this tradition, at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in martial ranged weapons. Simple and martial ranged weapons count as monk weapons for you.
Zen Archery
Also, at 3rd level, you can infuse your ki into your ranged weapon attacks. Before you make a ranged weapon attack on your turn, you can use your bonus action to focus your ki on your first ranged weapon attack you make until the end of your current turn, causing that attack to deal additional damage equal to your martial arts die + your Wisdom modifier.
When you reach 5th level, you can spend 1 ki point when you use this feature; if you do so, the bonus damage applies to the next two ranged weapon attacks you make, instead of only one.
Ki Shots
Starting at 6th level, you can infuse your ranged attacks with your ki. When you hit a creature with a ranged weapon attack, you can spend 1 ki point to activate one of the following effects.
Disrupt Circulation. You cause the circulation in the creature's legs to weaken, halving its movement speed until the start of your next turn.
Disrupt Focus. Your attack boggles the mind of the creature. If the creature tries to cast a spell before the end of your next turn, it must succeed on a Constitution saving throw against your ki save DC, wasting their action and spell slot on a failed save.
Disrupt Healing. You disrupt the flow of ki in the creature's body, making it unable to regain hit points until the start of your next turn.
Also, your ranged weapon attacks with monk weapons count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.
Disrupt Ki
Beginning at 11th level, you can use your Stunning Strike with your ranged weapon attacks that use monk weapons. Also, when you score a critical hit with a ranged weapon attack, you deal an additional die of damage.
Masterful Accuracy
At 17th level, if you miss with an attack roll using a ranged monk weapon, you can reroll it. You can use this feature only once on each turn.
