Monastic Tradition: Way of the Shadow Order (Ver 3)

Do not fear the shrouded path as no technique is forbidden. We brave the shadows to find the truth. We will cut their last breath from them because none can escape their shadows.

The shadows have enlightened me, now I know that secrets kept are weapons wasted and the truth lies in darkness...

Apprentice of the Shadows

When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in Intimidation if you do not already have so.

Also, you gain proficiency in thrown daggers and darts.

Shadow Techniques

Also at 3rd level, you gain access to new techniques:

Razor Shurikens. You can use your Ki to create deadly shurikens made from shadows.

As an action, you can choose one creature to target for a ranged attack. The range of the shurikens is 30 feet. You are proficient with it, and you add your Dexterity modifier to its attack and damage rolls. The damage type is slashing. The damage die is the same as your Martial Arts die.

When you gain the Extra Attack feature, this special attack can be used for any of the attacks you make as part of the Attack action.

At 6th level, the shurikens count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.

Living Shadow. As a bonus action, you can place a shadow clone of yourself anywhere you can see within 30 feet. This place cannot be occupied by another creature when placing your shadow but other creatures can occupy its spot once it is placed. The shadow lasts for 1 minute and fades after that.

The shadow has the ability to mimic your Attack action or your Razor Shurikens ability, at the cost of your reaction. For it to mimic the Attack action, there must be a creature for it to target within 5 feet and for the Razor Shurikens attack there must be a creature within 30 feet for it to target. The shadow uses the same rolls you use for your target. The shadow's attacks cannot copy status abilities such as Stunning Strike.

If your shadow kills a creature in combat, you regain Ki points equal to half your Wisdom modifier.

Once your shadow is active, as a bonus action and at the cost of 3 Ki points, you can switch places with your shadow unless the space is occupied by another creature.

You can also switch places as a reaction, expending Ki points equal to your Proficiency bonus.

You can only summon one shadow at a time, if you summon another shadow the original shadow will dissipate.

At 11th level, the range to summon a shadow increases to 60 feet.

Contempt Of The Weak

At 6th level, the shadows of your enemies betray them as they quiver when they are weak.

As an action, you can expend 2 Ki points and target a creature that is wounded within 30ft, for one minute when you hit the target with an attack you deal an extra die of martial arts damage to it. This effect cannot occur more than once per round.

Shadow Slash

At 11th level, the shadows lengthen your blades.

As an action, you can spend up a number of Ki points equal to your Proficiency bonus you slash those surrounding you. All creatures with 10 feet must make a Dexterity Saving Throw. You roll a number of Martial die equal for every 2 Ki points you spent, rounded down. On a failure, the creature takes full damage. On a success, the creature takes half damage.

Your shadow can also mimic this move at the cost of your reaction. If the shadows attack overlaps with yours, any creature within that area rolls with disadvantage and only takes damage from one source.

The attack counts as slashing and magical.

Death Mark

By 17th level, you've mastered the way of the shadows and can execute your foes where they stand.

When a you see a creature within 60 feet, you can pay 4 Ki points and as an action you can use Death mark to mark that creature for death and instantly teleport to it, leaving behind a shadow where you originally where. Until the end of your next turn all damage you deal will be replicated at the start of the creatures following turn. The creature then must make a Constitution Saving Throw, taking damage equal to the amount on a failed save or half damage on a successful save.

If you kill the target creature in this way, you regain 5 Ki points. If the target does not die from this ability you cannot target the same creature again until after a long rest.

The shadow created from this ability does not interfere with the Living Shadow restriction of one shadow but follows the rest of the rules. This shadow also disappears at the beginning of your next turn.
