Unfortunate Thief's Hands

Wondrous item, uncommon, (requires attunement by a spellcaster)

A set of dismembered, desiccated hands that once belonged to an unfortunate thief. In life the thief had been caught stealing repeatedly, each time, a finger was removed as punishment. Eventually, when no more digits were left they took what remained of his hand at the wrist. After his death, sometime later, someone had gathered all the pieces of his hands and sown them back together, imbuing them with some dark energy. Both hands have been severed at the wrists and the left one has been skinned to leave only the pallid flesh like a meat glove.

While you wear and are attuned to the glove-like left hand, the right hand will always mimic the motion of your left hand. The hand can move from you to a range of 30 feet. The hand has the statistics of a Crawling Claw (Monster Manual p.44) except it cannot see, hear, think, or act on its own. Any sensory information the hand experiences is fed back to the gloved hand.

As an action you can mentally command the hand to move up to its movement speed and perform a task. The hand can't carry more than 10 pounds. You can use the hand to manipulate an object, open an unlocked door or container, stow or retrieve an item from an open container, or pour the contents out of a vial.

Any objects or creatures the hand touches while you are within 30 feet of it count as within the range of touch. Any checks made using the hand use the Crawling Claw's stats.

Should the hand be lost or destroyed you can link a new hand to be controlled by the glove over the course of a short rest. If you use this ability to link a new hand while you have a current hand, your hand becomes inanimate and is replaced by the new one.

Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 3 (1d4 + 1) bludgeoning or slashing damage (claw's choice).
