Limpetfolk Slicer

The limpetfolk are a peaceful race, but the seas can be a dangerous place. To defend their underwater cities, a breed of limpetfolk were evolved to act as a frontline against aggressors, the slicer. Its forearms made of steel-like chitin that is naturally sharpened to a razor edge, the furious strikes of the slicer are lethal for anyone on the receiving end.

Much like samurai, the slicers believe in a rigid code of honour, often foregoing a tactical advantage to choose methods they perceive to be more fitting of their higher morals. For this reason it is rare for them to kill an unknown enemy, often they will use the blunt rear of their bladed forearms to render a foe unconscious, so that they can properly determine their fate by judicial process rather than exercising battlefield justice. For the slicer, a victory won without honour is worse than a loss made with it.

Some foes however, are beyond this kind of honourable judgement. Ancient enemies of the kuo-toa, limpetfolk will exterminate this evil race at any opportunity, preferring a swift end to those who have taken so many of their kind for their rituals and sparing them no mercy.

The gender of the limpetfolk is an oddity, every young limpetfolk is male, but as it passes into adulthood it becomes a female capable of reproduction. Accordingly, every slicer is female, and should the limpetfolk elders consider them to be the best selection to continue a potent bloodline or express traits they wish to accentuate in few generations they will gain the honour of birthing the next slicers to take up the mantle of protecting the colonies.

Underwater Feeding. Able to filter plankton and other microscopic flora and fauna continuously using the bright blue appendages on its chest, while underwater the slicer doesn't need food or drink.
