### Path of the Runescarred Although some barbarians follow a spiritual or religious path that either gives them focus or funnels primal might into their rages, most still lack the patience and understanding for the finer nuances of such power. Rare individuals possess both the willpower and the fortitude to blend ancient magic and fierce combat prowess into an art form thats both terrifying and beautiful to behold. Carving long forgotten runes into their skin and tattooing arcane symbols upon their body, the Runescarred are often individuals who deem great respect from their clans. Through a lifetime of dedication and pain they seize powers that resonate beneath their skin and give them abilities from a time long past. #### Runescribe Through years of training you have mastered the art of Runescribing, gaining power over some forms of magic. Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level you gain proficiency in calligraphers tools and learn the *Comprehend Languages*, *Identify* and *Illusory Script* spells which you can cast only as rituals. #### Runes of Power You have discovered ancient runes of power and engraved them upon your skin. Their might vibrates within you, seeking an outlet through the momentum of your strikes. As you adopt this path at 3rd level your rage becomes fueled by magic, giving your strikes additional power. While you're raging, the first creature you hit with a weapon attack on each of your turns takes extra damage. The damage is equal to one of your weapons damage dice rolled again. #### Runes of Life Whether through constant experimentations on your own body or through a growing understanding of the primal powers that in ever growing numbers lie upon your skin, you feel magic flowing through your flesh, invigorating you and giving newfound health. Beginning at 6th level you have advantage on saving throws against all diseases and gain proficiency in either the Medicine or Nature skill. Additionally, your hit point maximum increases by six and increases by one whenever you gain a level in this class. #### Runes of Resistance At 10th level you have mastered the power over runes that protect your body from harm and can inscribe them through mystical tattoos or precise scars. You gain proficiency in either the Arcana or Religion skill. Additionally, select two from following damage types: Acid, Fire, Cold, Poison, Necrotic, Radiant, Lightning, Psychic, Thunder and Force. You gain resistance against damage of the chosen type. At the end of each long rest you may replace one of the selected damage types with another one from the same list. \columnbreak #### Living canvass You have fully embraced the power of the runes carved and tattooed upon your skin and can change their layout on a moments notice, channeling the combined might of your magic and your body. Starting from 14th level whenever you are critically hit you may use your reaction and spend one of your hit dice to make the attacker reroll the attack, subtracting the number rolled on the hit die. Additionally, whenever you fail a saving throw or ability check, you can use your reaction and spend one of your hit dice to reroll the save or check, adding the number rolled on the hit die to the new result.
