Silurians

"Normally they're at odds with everyone, even other swamp denizens, especially lizardfolk unsurprisingly, according to some lizardmen tribes they just taste too good."

-- Hiroth Meros, Vastonian Limnologist

Silurian are a xenophobic race of amphibious creatures, that appear similar to catfish. They tend to live around wetlands and other fresh water environments, forming small tribes and sometimes large ones up to 40 individuals. They have little concept of gender and tend not to be friendly towards other species, if anything they begrudgingly accept similar races, but will often refuse to let them near their land, occasionally outright attacking those they deem to be intruders.

Procerus Silurian Traits

Ability Score Increase. Your Dexterity and Constitution score increases by 1

Size. Procerus Silurians are more slender and tall as opposed to Kench Silurians, they tend to grow to a maximum height of 8 to 13 feet tall and weighing around 200 to 300 pounds. Your size is large.

Poisonous. Unlike the Kench Silurian your maw isn't as strong but you have something else. Your body secretes a special type of venom from toothy protrusions on your dorsal fin and filaments on your hands, granting you a poisonous unarmed strike that deals damage equal to 1d6 + Constitution Modifier. During a short rest you may harvest some venom from yourself reducing your unarmed strikes hit to 1d4 for the remainder of the day, but you may apply it to 1d4 melee weapons or 1d4x4 arrows. When used in this way the weapon or projectile deals an additional 1d4 poison damage, but the poison becomes inert after a day. Additionally you gain resistance to poison damage.

Kench Silurian Traits

Ability Score Increase. Your Strength score increases by 1

Size. Kench Silurians are wide and stocky, but are also quite tall. They grow to be about 7.5 feet to 10 feet tall, but are often stocky and have a heavy weight, which is often around 300 to 400 pounds. Your size is large.

Toothed. Kench Silurians have a toothed maw, although their teeth are small they do have decent jaw strength. You have an unarmed bite attack that you are proficient with and deals deals 1d4 + Strength Modifier piercing damage.

Swallow. As a larger silurian, when swimming its easy to mistake certain creatures for something edible and ending up devouring them. A creature with a size category of small or smaller can be attempted to be "eaten" with a successful grapple check (with advantage when you're in water deep enough to swim in). With a creature inside your mouth you may use your bite attack as a bonus action to attack the creature you've swallowed.

A swallowed creature is blinded and has total cover against attacks and other effects outside of your mouth, the swallowed creature can free itself from your gullet by making a grapple check on its turns, If you are incapacitated, a swallowed creature can escape from your mouth using 5 feet of movement, exiting prone.
